About Us
Founder and creator of the Salento House Concerts project, Maestro Andrea Cataldo is a versatile musician and composer who has been active for over thirty years in the Italian music scene.
His training combines, with both rigor and passion, the study of the lute, composition, and orchestral conducting, culminating in a diploma in lute performance from the Conservatory of Bari.
His concert career has led him to perform in hundreds of events across Italy, both as a soloist and as part of various ensembles.
As the founder and artistic director of the early music ensemble La Jacquerie, Maestro Cataldo is a passionate researcher of medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque repertoire.
With this group, he creates and performs educational concerts that blend historical accuracy with compelling storytelling—such as Secoli di Luce and The Musical Flourishing during the Crisis of the 14th Century, the latter also published as an academic essay with NUME – Research Group on the Latin Middle Ages.
Alongside his work in early music, Maestro Cataldo is deeply committed to preserving and revitalizing the musical heritage of Salento through projects in the local dialect. These initiatives aim to bridge past and present, keeping traditional music alive through original compositions and reinterpretations of folk songs. His work helps to preserve the Salentino language and culture, bringing these unique expressions to a broader audience, including tourists and international visitors.
In addition to his artistic endeavors, Maestro Cataldo is an enthusiastic music educator, working with numerous public and private institutions, including Montessori schools and international programs.
